Just call your dealer and give them your Vin. They'll tell you if your vin qualifies, and set up an appointment. They'll probably charge you for an allignment, so don't think the "entire" job will be free.

I had mine done about 2 years ago, and still haven't gotten the letter in the mail.

I actually started hearing a cracking noise a few weeks before this aired and my ex and his friends have always worked on trucks so they came to the odd conclusion that it was the ball joints. So they replaced them and then a few weeks later we recieved a recall on the truck.

WOW! this thread started over 2 years ago. Is there a limit to the mileage to get the recall done? I can't belive this but I think mine are original, and I have 159000 on it. I went to the link and it showed no recalls performed. I don't have it on the road yet, I need the title but thats another issue, and can tell that they are shot.

I had the recall done 2 yrs a go, and they are shot again. I'm not hard on the truck, it's just that the mopar ball joints are crap. The seal is very poor, get a good aftermarket replacement.

I believe if you call the dealer with your VIN # they can tell you if you've had the recall done. if it already had it, I would go with the moog greasable ball joints. there alot better then the OEM crap

If I bought my Dakota from a used car lot and mine is one of the recall ones, where will the recall letter go? Will it find its way to me?

Just called the local Dodge dealer, they ran my VIN and the recall work was already done on my truck back in 2004 by the original owner of my truck.
