Default Heater Question

My Dakota certainly heats up fine. I have to turn the heat down or crack open the windows, even in these sub-zero weather we have had over the last few weeks. My question is about the controls. When I have it set to blow out the dash vents and the floor vents, it sounds like the door or flapper or something like that is switching back and forth between the two as I move the accelerator. I can also hear a change in pitch of the air blowing thru the vent system. Does that make any sense? You'd think that it would set to one position and stay there as long as I don't turn the dial.

yea, I would check for a vacuum leak. You're right, it shouldn't be changing due to the accelerator. That's a good indication haha

Default RE: Heater Question

I have a post on here with heater problems also. It was like 7 degrees here for a week, and hasn't gone above 35 in three weeks. Mine was somewhat doing the same as yours, but it sounded like the motor was running strong with little coming out. I tjought it was switching around like yours. The actual heat was great. I fired up my torpedo heater in the garage. and washed the truck, letting warm water run in the cowl. I left the heater on for several hours, and the truck was fine after that. You may not want to start yanking things until you thaw yours out.
