rust on my chrome bumper
I just purchased a 2001 4x4 slt ext cab yesterday and itsspotless, except for the rear bumper its a chrome one and its rusting from underneath the plating. has anyone dealt with this eye sore before ,such as making custom rear bumpers or anything different like. i want to remove this one but i was thinking of making a bumper out of steel tubing about 6 inch diameter and welding the ends shut and use it for air storage just incase i need some compressed air.
i was looking on the web and found some oem replacements but i think custom is cooler especially on a truck.

my rear bumper is rusted the same exact way as yours. I was just going to get a rollpan and get rid of the bumper all together. Plus I think a rollpan would look cool. In your case you could get a stock replacement, or a bumper cover.
if i got it chromed then i need just one lol. i think it would look better than a rusty bumper. i could get it powder coated in chrome which is much cheaper than plating. btw my rims are powder coated and they look awsome. they dont show the brake dust like my silver ones did.
