Hey guys... long time veiwer first time poster... Recently my Trans has gone out in my 98 Dakota 5.2... i have been told before that the transmisson in it is basicaly a 727 with electronic overdrive... Has anyone replaced it with just a regular 727 or is there somekinda sensor that will not be compatible... My trans has made it only 106,000 miles but i've modded on the truck to take it from 10.2 in the 1/8th to 8.1 in the 1/8th... Planning on putting thr truck in the shop end of FEB. so if anyone can help me with their wisdom it would be forever in their debt...

get in touch with these guys. i have known them from the 60 sthey are honest. 90% of ALL trans shops get parts fro a & reds. they will know the answer to any question.

I would buy the 727 with od. It's the same tranny just with od if you plan on driving on a highway it will save you a bunch. And the 727 is a strong tranny they put these behind the 406 i believe...

 

no it wont be seing much highway... it's not a daily driver anymore... i got an 01 stratus r/t for that now
