Default Upgrading tire size

Is itinadvisable to increase your tire size on thefactory wheels to a larger diameter? I have the 245/70/16s, as there were two tire sizes for this vehicle. I would like to put 305s on, but I'm not sure if this would be safe, or if the new tires would clear the wells.

not sure how big 305's are but I have 31's on my dakota with 10.5 inches wide, on 16" rims.

305 will not fit they are bout a 34" tire the stock ones that are 265/70r16 are about a 30" maybe just a little bigger but not much.

with 245's on there now, you are at the limit for your rim size...305's wont work on that rim...305's will also rub the fender well. if you want 305's you need new rims and a lift

i would stick with the current ones you have unless you want to upgrade like 1 inch. But best would be to invest in a lift, rims or just larger tires that fit.

Default RE: Upgrading tire size

i have a 3 inch body lift on my 02

my tire size is a 315/75/R16 and they just fit

the problem you may run into is when you turn the wheels all the way to the left or right
