Default tranny

I have a 2002 Dakota with 4.7 automatic tranny, with 80,000 miles. Driving today I get a surging/hesitation when it shifts from 2-3 gear. Otherwise no symptoms or engine lights. Any ideas, thanks Barry

How cold was it outside. Mine tranny always does it. Hesistates to shift if its really cold. The tranny has to warm up before it shifts. So the computer won't give the signal to shift until the tranny reaches a certain temp. I let me truck warm up for 20min and under the hood near the battery it was still -27. I just put a piece of cardboard infront of the rad so it would warm up quicker and not let lots of cold air through. Just gotta make sure you monitor the temps.

i dont know a lot about the newer trans. but on the older trans if you go stright from park to rev some will bang hard. it shouldnt do it. but if you take the lever and go stright from park to low it will fill the low/rev piston with 100 to 150 psi. then go to rev it shouldnt bang as hard. the reason some of them bang so hard going stright to rev is that rev uses 300 psi. so thats a change of 300 at one time. if you take the lever to low, NOT drive. it loads the piston with 150 psi first. then when you go to rev its only 150 psi change. 300-150=150
i got no problem with the additive you used. but i have alwas used reg rearend grease 2 qts. been doing it for years and years no trouble. but newer trans may be different. good luck may need to double check the low/rev band adj. again.
