thanks alot for the help, and please try not to laugh as i ask this.
My truck has been wrecked and the rad fan is obviously hooked up through a fuse to come on when ACC does, which seems to be no problem.
Here is the thing tho, the rad fan is blowing air toward the engine...is that right?
Here is my cai ?... if i run the pipe to right in front of the fan, will the temp be any lower/ higher? is air coming from the radioator hot or cold?

It is good to do thinking about intakes
before buying or building one.
The lowest temperature air around the vehicle
is high off the blacktop pavement (also cleanest air)
and this is why you see 18 wh trucks with air intakes 11 feet high.
Some of the Ford Lightnings has refriderated air intakes.
You AC air is typically about 45 degrees
and the question is whether the 7 hp to run the AC compressor
will be made up for by feeding 45 degree air to the engine rather than
70 to 100 degree air...
The air behind your radiator fan is only 1-2 inches of water higher pressure higher
so that is not really a good spot to draw from
The highest velocity air that can be slowed down to high pressure air
(ram air effect)
is just above the spinning tire top
but that air is so dirty it is a 'drag strip only' air intake
before buying or building one.
