FYI-
A Stampede package was offered in '04. This will get you the monochromatic grill if you don't want the chrome. Now, just find a black Stampede truck.
(This is my first Dodge too. Got me an 04 crew cabSLT Sport Plus 4x4 with the 4.7. Love it!)
No more GM vehicles for me. Go broke fixing 'em.
Good luck.

I have an 04 black club cab. The only chrome its came with was the grille, but i replaced that quick. i bought the black grille for about $35-$45. Mine isnt a sport or an sxt or anything and the bumper came painted. but its a V6. I took the hood scoops off if you see my pics.

Well, I closed the deal yesterday on an 04 Quad Cab Sport Plus V8 with 59,000kms(36,000 miles). Didn't get a black one like I had wanted initially, but a red one. Once I saw it, I loved it, very sharp looking truck. It has a Pace Edwards roll top cover, tow package, command start, 5spd auto, etc. Got a great deal on it and hope it treats me well. Really love how the thing drives, lots of power, very smooth on our rough snow covered side streets.
Don'tthink I'll be doing much to it, since it isloaded up pretty nice already withpainted bug deflectors, grill inserts, aftermarket stereo, etc. I was thinking about getting some stepbars so the kids can get in the back easier, but I don't know, they might just be a pain for adults since they are not really necessary and I might find all they do is make my pants dirty when getting out.
I'll probably change all the fluids (engine, tranny, diffs) and possibly spark plugs too in the next few weeks.
I'm sure I'll be on the site now quite a bit, since I am such a noob when it comes to Dakotas and Dodges in general.
