How do I fix the problem? Thecodereferences this, "Power Steering Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance".

I have checked the fluid level, drained the resevoir and refilled and cannot seem to get the CEL to stop turning on. Any suggestions?

 

not sure if this would change anything ever flush ur p/s system?

 

No, I haven't flushed the P/S system just yet. I have drained it, but not flushed it - I'm assuming it is similar to how you flush a radiator?? Dunno -I may see what a mechanic says, probably cost me my first born. I guess thats better than the steering going out around a corner at 50mph!

 

Before you do anything...replace the power steering pressure switch. I would almost bet that it will fix your problem. It will be a sensor that screws into the high pressure hose, possibly close to the rack (I don't remember where it is located...) and will have three wires coming from it.

 

Thanks, found the switch in my manual... I will start there. I was reading page after page about the power steering system. The actual switch was found under category, "pumps". Who would have known.
