you will need a good set of pickle forks, and about 2 hours of time. not hard at all. I prefer to use MOOG parts. I order themfrom the internet.

I just did Idler, Pitman, innner and outer tie rods.....its not that bad. My only problem was getting 185ft-lbs of torque on the Idler (the one off the steering gear if I have them mixed up). I was also replacing the steering gear itself so I took it back out and viced it up to get the nut on. In the truck it might be a tight squeeze. Once you have the center link out check your inner tie rod ends, they seem to be a weak link.

Just to ask, what makes you think you need a new idler and pitman arm?

The Idler arm connects to the frame. The pitman arm connnects to the steering gear. But thats why i like my Dakota, its an 04, im not and its got a rack and pinion. I had a chevy and had to rebuilt the whole front end with steering/suspension parts.
