interchanging parts question
i've been lookingin afew 4x4 magazines, and they make a lot of aftermarket parts for all the jeeps. well, being that chrysler makes dodge and jeep. i'm wondering if the grande chrerokee or some wrangler parts would be able to interchange with my 4x4 dakota. i know some car companies like using one platform to make a couple different vehicles. i want to get a baja/rockcrawler bumper with a built in winch. and i'm wondering if i could use an aftermarket jeep bumper. plus i'm also wondering about axles, differential, and long arm suspension parts etc.
and does anyone know if there is a kit for a solid front axle swap?
thanks peeps.
i miss my truck and fishing. i'm here at NTC at fort irwin, ca. i keep buying all kinds of stuff to put on my truck when i get back. i can't wait. keep it real.

no SAS kits, and none of the parts should work, totally different frames.
you could make it fit, not sure how much work you'd want to put into it though
however, my 2.5l is shared by the wrangler and i can get a SC for it.

I think for the most part you are SOL. The 3.9L was never put in a Jeep (to my knowledge) and jeeps are narrower than our trucks so you probably will have problems crossing stuff over. As for the platforms, thay are completely different. You would probably have better luck buying stuf for a ram and then fabbing it to fit the dak.
hhmmm. well when i get back to texas. im gonna start doing some serious research and try measuring up the dak frame with that of the full size rams and the jeeps. i'll post my results. but i'll be there's a chrysler truck/suv that it close enough to the dak to use certain parts. probably gonna have to do some welding or certain fabritcation. but thats half the fun, plus no one else will have a truck, like it.
To give you my $.02 My wife has an 02 Jeep GC. with the 4.0 and I have a 98 Dakota with the 5.2. I just got done doing a top end rebuild on her jeep and there is not much that will work between the two. If her Jeep had the 5.2 as well then the motor would but that is about it. Good luck finding what your looking for, try looking for Durango parts that might cross over.

im not so much interested in engine parts as much as i am axles, differentails, and possible suspension components, and exterior pieces like aftermarket bumpers.

im a solid 2 hours south of there. there's a sproket auto center on post that has every tool imaginable to include pipe bending, welding, different kinds of lifts, plus there's about four retired mechanics there just to give advice or help. it's pretty awsome. cost 5 bucks an hr to rent a lift bay.
i'm probably gonna find a bumper in the measuremeants thati want and a style i like, and just fabricate and mount for it. i'm still in a california right now, so i can't wait to ge back and get started.
thanks for the possible connection though!
