The center console is the best idea to keep everything looking stock. Your going to need to do some custom work. Personally I don't shy away from smaller woofers. I had a ranger that I used two 5 inch drivers it would hit nice and hard and would get down to 30hz and rattle all the mirrors and dash. But it wouldn't rattle outside of the truck. The other idea you might look at component speaker systems. Just do your homework. I am looking to buy a center console on ebay so I can change out the center seat in mine. I'm just waiting till I have the cash to do it all at once.

here are some links to some speakers like what I had in the Ranger. They don't make the speakers I had any more. Thats my $.02 worth.

i also have an 01 quad cab and can't fit subs under the rear seats. i would put them behind the seats but it is essential for me to be able to fold the seats up and down. do you think it would be possible to put subs under the front seats? i looked and im pretty confident that i could put some slim line subs under my three (no console) front seats. would it work?
