My 99 dakota has a 3.9 when engine heats up to temperature, a rattling or ringing noise can be heard at low and high RPMs. (not as bad at high rpms) slight loss of power is found also. Please, somebody help me.

In case anyone else is having this problem, I came across something that helps. After I started running a higher octane gasoline, the problem stopped.

 

My 99 does the same thing I put higher grade of gas in yesterday to see if it clears up? If not what else could it be? I have read so many different opinions I am not sure? everything from timing chain to bad gas to leaky manifold gaskets? Does anyone really Know?????
