I'm looking at buying a used superchips programmer, the guy who had it owned a 02 dakota 4.7, i have a 99 dakota 5.2L will this work for my truck? Cause i heard somewhere that the programmer stores the trucks vin number and you can not use it on another vehicule after you have already programmed with it, What are your guys thoughts on this?

 

If its the max micro it will work, no it doesnt care if you used it on another vehicle...what are you expecting to "tune" w/ it, superchips doesnt alow you to do much on your year dakota other than tire size and i think ur speed limiter...

 

ok what can i expect to gain in hp or more importantly "GAS Milage" from it, right now i've got dual exhaust and a k&n air filter.

I bought mine used, just make sure the guy detunes it from his truck. and I noticed a good difference in my truck with it.

 

Agreed the superchips website shows the same programmer for both trucks. Like "jonnymagnum" said make sure the guy you are buying it from restores his truck to stock. I got one used and had no problems. If the guys will let you, reprogram your truck before leaving, should take just a few minutes. The model of programmer should be 3715.

I run the "87" oct program, and get a little better mileage from it, if I keep my foot out of it.
