Default Hello

Just thought I'd drop a note and say hello. I'm new on this forum and own a 2002 Dakota regular cab 2 wheel drive. Is it red with a 3.9L V-6, Automatic with column shift and bench seat, and a 3.55 limited slip rear. Bolting up a set of 17" X 8" steel wheels with 255/45/17 tires as soon as the weather is a bit nicer. Overall its in very nice condition with only 44k miles.

I'm in the process of converting it over to a "Plymouth". Please share ideas and reactions, but no bashing please...

I've owned my share of Dodge musclecars; '69 & '70 Swinger 340's. And "other" brand cars too... Camarao, Mustang, GTO, etc...

Looking for advise on adding reliable horsepower; Have K&N CAI, and that's about it so far... that is. Was thinking of V-8 Thottle Body and linkage set up. Then maybe the HarlandSharpe 1.7 Roller Rockers.

One big question to make it somewhat realiable and consistent for some dragstrip use is... What can be done with the automatic? Seems to have a rev limiter of sorts that won't allow full throttle shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd??? Very Annoying!

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

moe7404,

Thanks for the lead, will be contacting them. Recent little street meeting with a 2004 Mustang V-6, had him off the line by half a fender, pulled to half a tuck, and then it was "I don't feel like shifting!" time [:@] So I lifted (which near killed me to do), it shifted and I stuffed my foot back through the firewall. And still beat him by a fender But that shifting things really bugs me!

Thanks again!

I know in the early days, we put kits in and reworked the valve body, but the newer transmissions are elctronic, right? Seems to me you should be able to tweek the tranny through the computer to get it where you want it.

Get a manual valve body if you want to control the shifts.
