Default steering???

alright well it not causing any driving problems... yet .. but it seems that after Iv left my tuck in park for a long time like over night the next morning when I first fire it up and turn the steering weel to back out of my lot I get a hard pop sound.. it sounds bad and lound like somthin you would hear if you hit somthin, but yea anyways it only seems to do it after its been sitting in one spot for a while cause it usually wont do it if Iv left it for like 30 mins in park. it hasnt messed with my driving and it only seems to do that lound pop noise after park and not when I drive and turn, what is the problem I'v checked my steering fluid and that seems fine... so any thought thanks...

Check the front end, ball joints probably. They are making a popping sound during the initial breakaway, when they have the highest torque.

What year is the truck ? It may be included under the ball joint recall. Ball joints go bad in Dakota's, and also the intermediate shaft, "the shaft that connects the steering column with the rack". The lower universal joint goes bad. The racks, and power steering pumps seem to bite the dust early also. My 04 with under 38,000 miles has had two racks, one power steering pump, and intermediate shaft replaced.
