Ive recently purchased a set of aftermarket marker lights which replace the OEM amber to the clear lens to make a clear on clear headlight assembly. I am not familiar with Texas DOT regulations, would it be mandatory that i change out the original clear bulbs to amber bulbs?

I have a different headlight assembly than yours. I have the halo projector assembly, it it clear also. I did switch out the clear bulbs to amber. I wouldn't want to take a chance with it. Some cop sees that and you could get a ticket. Plus a package of 2 3157 amber bulbs is only 5$. I would. Plus it only takes about 10min.

 

Texas law states that you have to use White or Amber to the front. I'd get Amber bulbs, but I don't think you have to ?

All motor vehicles are required to have at least two (2) stop lamps, unless vehicle was manufactured prior to 1960, in which case it is required to be equipped with one (1).

Rear Reflector
Every motor vehicle shall carry on the rear, either as part of the tail lamps or separately, two or more red reflectors.
Rear reflectors on a vehicle shall reflect a red color.
Red reflectors required on the rear of a vehicle may be incorporated with the tail lamp assembly.
Every reflector upon any vehicle shall be of such size and characteristics and so mounted as to be visible at night from all distances within 600 feet to 100 feet from such vehicle when directly in front of the the lawful lower beams of head lamps.
Turn Signal
Signal shows white or amber to the front, and
Signal shows red or amber to the rear

 

ricbrk thanks for the resource, indeed it states that under texas law, section 547.324 under the transportation code,



(c) Turn signal lamps:
(1) shall be mounted at the same level and spaced as
widely apart as practicable on the front and on the rear of the
vehicle; and
(2) may be included as a part of another lamp on the
vehicle.
(d) A turn signal lamp shall emit:
(1) a white or amber light, or a color between white
and amber, if the lamp is mounted on the front of the vehicle;

 

In NH you MUST have amber. I knew someone who had clear bulbs in his after market headlights and tail lights, and other than getting harrased by cops they where like spotlights! Im suprised he didnt cause any accidents, damn ricers.
