I'm just full of questions tonight. I think this is my third post...

Anyway, making plans for the new truck (03 Quad Cab) and have come to the conclusion that the only place I have available to mount my CB antenna is a hood mount, a-la a Firestik Dodge hood channel mount. I have plans for a Yakima rack on the roof to hold two my two cargo boxes and a rack on the bedrails to hold my toys (bikes, snowboards, etc).

Anyone else out there have one of these hood channel mount setup's? If so, which side did you mount on? Passenger or driver?

How does the SWR turn out?

And one final question... where did you mount your radio in the cab?

ive seen one mounted to the bumper, behind the taillight, next to the tailgate,
out of the way, guy said it sounded really good

 

The previous owner of my truck mounted a cb right through the roof. But I would expect one to mount good near the radio antenna.

 

you want it to be on the back corner of ur bed idealy, on ur hood will make ur cb work better behind you because of the way the ground plane is...

 

i think it looks better on the left side, opposite your radio antenna, but from what i have heard you can get a little interference from having it close to the radio antenna. i had it that way on a blazer and had no problems.

best reception is as far from the radio antenna as you can get itand make sure the top of the antenna is higher than the top of the truck
