I was checking out the 3" body lift for my truck and i was wondering if anybody has done it on an 03-04 Dak yet. if so, how difficult and how long does it take to do? Also whats the most difficult part on installing it?

 

Generally all body lifts are the same. 8 blocks, some longer bolts. They look good especially if you have tube rails, Reason being it covers the frame

You can even fab one up your self find some 2-3 inch blocks of steel and drill a hole through it, but I think it needs a bit of cushion... But polyerithene isn't that much less, maybe throw some rubber? lol

 

My '97 Dakota has a 3" body lift. The lift blocks are hard (circular plastic-type blocks), but that's okay because you still use the same body bushings to isolate the cab from the frame. That is, the body bolt goes through the lower bushing, through the frame, through the upper bushing, THEN through the lift block, then into the treads in the cab. No matter what you use as lift block material, you should be okay as long as you keep the body bushings in place. That said, a kit is the only way to go, because they include the steering link extension and gas fill tube extension, if required.

 

yeah, i think the kit is about $250 and i think thats an alright price. will the body lift be ok to use with a suspension lift?

 

I've read where shops won't install both a suspension lift and a body lift. But a lot of folks do. My parents have an '06 TJ Rubicon with a 6" air suspension lift and a 1" body lift for slightly more tire clearance (35s). It works fine for them, and they do some pretty solid crawling. But it's not a 3" body lift either.

 

most shops wont install either, unless its a custom, or off road shop...
