I don't get what your question is. Be specific!

No you will need a V8 PCM to run a V8. A V6 PCM will not run a V8!!

I apologize in advance for the very newbie questions.

I got a 98 dodge ram 1500s, on 39s 1 tons, 360, 241/205 doubler, etc.

I have decided that I need somethign smaller to wheel... I plan to build a Dakota with my current driveline out of the truck and have it around 108" WB..... there are a few cheap 3.9L single cab 2wd dakotas in my area(I want a cab/front frame as a platform to tube out/build off of instead of building a complete buggy)

I see that this 5.9L swap was from a dakota 5.9L.

Does the 5.9L in the dakota and in the ram 1500 have the exact same motor mount configurations?

And with regards to putting the 5.9L in place of the 3.9L... are the motor mounts the same(just drop the engine in) Or will they need to be modified/moved?

If I have the complete 5.9L out of the ram w/ the ECM and everything, how extensive is the connection to the dakota's frame harness?

Thanks guys,

Mike.

This might be a newb question but I'm working on getting the parts I need to do a 5.2 swap and I just got the flex plate and noticed there was no starter ring gear on it. I noticed in your pictures that yours didn't have it either, so I'm just wondering if it is on the torque converter? I just want to cover my bases and make sure I have everything before I do it since it is my daily driver and don't want to get get into it and find out that I have to order some more parts because I forgot something.

The motor has the same mount mount locations on the motor. It is a simple drop in, use the V6 mounts to the engine, the brackets are Dakota specific. You never said what year the Ram is so we don't know how close the wiring harness is to yours.

Yes the starter ring is on the torque converter.
