RE: 97 dakota 3.9
I have pretty much the same truck your looking at...same year, 4x4, etc.
Mine has 132,000 miles on it. I've never had any major issues with it. The most money ive ever had to put in it was $400 for a new timing chain/water pump etc. Neither was bad..but im very pre-emptive when it comes to maintenance. I hate being stuck somewhere. Its never left me stranded and ive ownded it since Janurary 1998.
I've kept pretty good care of it...but its a truck so its got nicks and dings..still loooks pretty good when i shine her up a bit.
I'll probably be selling mine within the next year (need something with 4 doors), and even with the 1 year old Leer bed cap (bough for $1,300), i doubt i would ask for more than 5K.
soo..anyway..id buy that truck and not worry about it..but agreeing with everyone else..i wouldnt pay the asking price and would even struggle to pay 5k for it...good luck whatever happens.
