hi i have a quick question about a throttle body, i read on here that a throttle body form a 5.7 and a 5.9 will fit a 3.9
i have a 2000 dakota 3.9, so my question is, what years do the 5.7 and 5.9 throttle body have to be to be compatable with my 2000 3.9
...if that makes sence haha

 

first of all it is the throtle body off of a 5.2 or 5.9 litter. any throtle body form 5.2 or 5.9 will work. You will need to buy a throtle body cable for your year truck.

 

actually any 98-03 5.2 or 5.9 TB will fit your truck. you will also need a 98-03 v8 throttle cable for a dakotaor it wont hook up right. i got my cable from www.dodgeparts.com

 

Do you gain anything from getting a better throttle body? I've heard alot of yes and no's

 

yes, a stock v8 tb on a 3.9 will get you about 15 hp on the top end, a fastman will get you more, a stage one from hughes engines will be even better.

 

Am I glad im doing a v8 swap now lol. No worries about simple upgrades, like a throttle body, well at-least yet. LOL. But throttle body's help. Depending on what you use your truck for do certain mods. Torque is for acceleration while HP is for speed in simple terms...

360's have a **** load of torque. I can't wait to get my 3.9 out and start the adventure of fitting the 5.9 in!
