Default 02 dodge dakota slt panic button?(keyless entry remote)

from what ive been reading and hearing i think its suppose to be some sort of alarm that'll go off when some unathorized things happen, (is it?) if it is, can anyone tell me how to set it up, or how its suppose to work?

thanks in advance.

The panic button on the remote simply activates the vehicles factory alarm.

Well it isn't very useful no, but it does do something [8D] The alarm function by itself can be useful but the only way anybody would ever set it off is if you lock your doors with the windows down and somebody reaches in and unlocks it

My 2000 dakota slt the panic button toots the horn and flashes the lights just like an alarm, but the truck doesn't seem to have the alarm function. There is no instrument cluster indicator. Is there a way to turn on (or off) the alarm function?
