Default Transmission problems??

Hi all, Im new here.. I have a question if someone could maybe answer it.. I have a 99 dakota 5.2 and automatic transmission..
When the truck gets to op temperature the tranny shifts out of 1st and into 2nd pretty hard and then the rest of the gears are fine.. Also if you are in third and need to kick it down to 2nd it seems to slip pretty bad ( I let off the gas and let it grab 2nd ).. I think I know the answer already but is this thing screwed? All the other gears work fine but going into and shifting down into 2nd is a pain..

Oh yeah one more thing.. IF I am going about 50 or 55 with overdrive off and click it in the RPM's shoot up about 300 or so and then drop back down.. Thanks in advance..

There are two bands, and it sounds like the front band may be slipping; that would explain the soft 3-2 downshift. Not sure what the harsh 1-2 shift would be. It IS full of fluid and the fluid has been changed recently, yes? That should be the first step.

like everyone else said here, id say it was band adjustment problem...thats no big deal and shouldnt cost much...even if you have to get the tranny rebuilt its not that bad, less than a new one. if you can afford it, id put a shift kit in it too. it will shift hard and fast ...i did that to a charger i used to have and it was awesome
