I have a 2001 Dakota quadcab with a dead 4.7 engine (180,000 miles), and I am wondering if it is possible to swap a 5.7 hemi into the truck. A good used 4.7 is very hard to find, and the remanufactured ones are an arm and a leg. Estimate to put a remanufactured 4.7 into the truck run around $6,000!!!! It seems like the used 5.7 hemi is easier to find, and they are not as expensive as the 4.7 engines. Has anybody ever tried this? Does anyone know of a reason it can't be done? Any suggestions?
