2003 dakota air bag light on
Your going to have to find out what code you have. Does your horn or cruise work? If not, more than likely your clockspring is at fault. I work on these for a living and more often then not it's the clockspring. Once in a while the airbag module goes bad. Hope this helped.
You would have to take it to a dealership or a repair shop with the right scanner to read airbag codes. But its a pretty good assumption that if you have a highline dakota, and your steering wheel radio controls, horn, cruise or any of the above don't work, you have a bad clockspring.
The clockspring is directly behind the steering wheel. Its usually not possible to tell if its broken, but if your horn and cruise don't work, its a good possibility thats its the problem.
I'm having similar issues with my 2002 Dakota. In addition to the Airbag light, the ABS and Parking Brake lights are staying on as well, along with the speedometer not working. This has happened two nights in a row, but everything worked ok during the day. Is this a clockspring issue as well?
