Clanking all over the place! (well, almost..)
Just curious if anyone else has had the same problems..
I've got a 2004 3.7L v6 with about 49,000k's on it right now.. I bought it approx. 3 years ago with 20,000k's, and didn't have this happen at all until about 2 years ago..
1st clanking noise is when I'm at a complete stop. I'll step on the pedal to accelerate and you'll hear a clank noise that almost seems like it's coming from underneath the truck (about midway down - where the box connects to the cab). Doesn't matter when or where, I ALWAYS hear it everytime I accelerate from a complete stop.
2nd one is the worst one. You'll hear this loud snapping-like sound coming from the front end (sounds like possibly from the wheel well) whenever I turn my steering wheel. It doesn't even take much to do it either. I hear it when I'm turning out onto a street or I could be moving into the next lane and it happens.
I've taken it to the dealership twice about both problems and BOTH times they said that they can't find it and can't replicate the problem! The mechanic just said that it could possibly be from cranking the wheel so hard that when I'm turning and the wheel rubs or hits something in the well wheel.ButI never crank my steering wheel all the way like that..So I paid my $100 and drove away.. and it started up again!! I'm so angry because the problem is gradually worsening..
Any ideas?? Thanks!!

sounds like some annoying noises. from what you wrote it could be alot of things. if you really want it fixed i can only suggest maybe taking to a smaller shop maybe reffered by a friend or something that can look it over and give an honest quote as to what it is. i find the dealers while under warrenty will do anything they can to avoid a repair that may be covered under the warrenty plus every time i took my truck to them in the past they misdiagnosed the problems and id end up finding out its something completly different then what they wanted to fix. so i wouldn't trust them. if you can find out maybe through a mechanic that has years experience and then go back to them with a better idea of waht it is they may fix it underwarrenty who knows. you may have to spend 40 bucks for an inspection through some smaller shop but at least they may be able to find the problem. just an idea.
good luck.
