heater core '98 dakota
wondering this question, my heater core went out a week ago so i pulled my entire dash/instrument panel out, my new heater core was put in, everything went back in just fine. fluids all drained and then new fresh fluids put it and all air was released out of the system, but i still have no heat or hot air coming through. what can i look into now or how can i fix it?
I have a 92, and the same thing happened to me. It is a confusing thing that is driving me to drink. I even tore it apart again yesterday and am hoping someone else has had and corrected this problem. It is like all of the heat stays inside the heater box. There is heat there, and just a small amount radiates through the vents, but when I get on the highway, I freeze my butt off. Someone please help. jason613@hotmail.com
Are you having any other problems other than no heat? I'm curious because earlier I had my water pump go bad in my 99 and after I replaced that I had no heat, but my temp gauge would keep going up. I ended up having to replace the thermostat again cause it was stuck. After that it was fine, except I replaced it with a 180 thermostat and the heat isn't as hot now.
A very common issue with this is the blend air door cable (it goes across the top of the heat/ac housing). They have a tendency to become disconnected while wrestling the dash back into place. Unfortunately to check it, the dash will need rolled back out enough to see the top of the housing. It may have the blend door on the cold side. Just a possibility. Also I would double check that there is not a air pocket in the cooling system. Good luck.
