i was wondering if an R/T rear-end would bolt directly up to the stock location on my 2000 dakota quad cab 4.7L 2WD
i know the r/t's have some kind of posi or lim slip and im tired of one wheel squeals!!!!!

i'm not sure if the 4x4 and 4x2 rears both have the same center. as in i think that the 4x4 rear pumpkin is off center while the 4x2 in in the center. i will try to find out. but i have a trac loc rear out of a 2001 4x4 with 3.91 gears it only has 42,000 miles on it. i am willing to sell cheap.
is it off center the same as a 4x4? cause all mopar engine sit about 3-4 inches tward the pass side, even the old chargers ect... but the only reason i think there might be a difference in 2 and 4 is that the tranny cross member has 2 different mounting spots on it one is about 4 inches further over thant the other.
I believe that the 4x4 axles have the spring purches on the top of the axle tube and the 4x2 has the spring purches on the bottom of the axle tube. There are tons of 9.25 4x4 dakota axles that are limited slip and plenty of the ones on a 4x2 that are limited slip. You do not need to get a rt axle just to get the limited slip. My dakota with the 8.25 axle even has one and it is 2wd. I would think it would be a better idea to get your axle built up over a say junck yard axle with a limited slip because if they are not maintained they break, and even well maintained they do not last as long as they should.
