Subject: 4.7 to 5.9 swap info (wiring)
Not having much luck on the other forums with this:
I have another post to find a 5.9 & tranny out of a 2001 dakota with wiring harness and computer but I'm kinda wondering if the underhood wiring is the same from 1998-2000. Does anyone have the wiring diagrams from a 2000 AND 2001 Dakota? Better yet, has anyone else done this swap?
Thanks,
John

I suspect the reason that this swap isn't popular is because it'd be prohibitively expensive, compared with just BUYING an R/T model. Unless you have a particular affinity to your particular truck, I don't see why you'd want to do such a swap. Lots of time and money to create what's already been created. Swapping in a Hemi or something...that'd be different, because Dakotas don't come with Hemis. But going to all the trouble to convert a 4.7L to a 5.9L...I'd just buy a 5.9L truck.
This is actually a very easy bolt-in swap and it's way less money than building a 4.7 with comparable power. I already own a truck so I have no interst in buying another one, and I'm pretty sure they made 0 quad cab R/T's anyway. Does anyone have any info on the actual topic?
ummm, the 4.7 is a different design. It won't bolt to the tranny. I dought the computers are even the same. they probably have a different set up. Mine was simple, but it was 3.9 to 5.9 so thats easy same engine type. 4.7 is a power tech were as the 3.9 is a mag.
Yes, that's why I'm looking for an engine, transmission, wiring harness, and computer. They will all bolt right in. And yes, I do know the mounts are different but they can be purchased anywhere.
Once again, please stay on topic.
