The 2.5L truck already has an electric fan. I doubt the A/C stuff uses that much horsepower (the pulley completely free-wheels when not in use), but your point about weight is a good one. The compressor is probably about 15-20 pounds, and the rest of the system probably totals at least 50-75 pounds, maybe 100.

Figure your weight/power ratio to figure out how much removing weight will improve performance. For a 120-hp engine in a 3500 pound truck, that's about 29 pounds per horsepower. So in order to gain the equivalent performance improvement given by 10 hp, you'd need to remove about 290 pounds. All of that is very general of course, but it gives you a ballpark figure. A 230-hp engine (the 5.2L V-8) in the same 3500 pound vehicle has a weight/power ratio of about 15:1. So for that setup, the same 290 pound reduction is an equivalent of about a 19 hp gain. Again, all very general, but it gives you an idea.

thanks again, i just installed a pcv breather and removed the tube, and i plan on a low temp thermostat and a high flow muffler(magnaflow or cherrybomb) next. after that will be the 4.0 throttle body and does anyone know if spacers actually work? and what do you think of a 50 shot of nitrous?

a muffler isnt really going to give you performance gains, it will more than likely just sound better. the throttle body will supposedly do wonders...fastman doesnt have one for a 4cyl tho. a 4.0 TB fits on a 4cyl? eveyone here is always saying spacers dont work on magnums, but maybe they would on a 2.5...not much help i know...

im going for sound with the muffler, and a 4 bolt 4.0 tb fits on the 4 bolt 2.5L truck and jeep motors. they are the same except for the inside diameter( the 4.0 is larger naturally).

you can install a 2.5 turbo from the older fwd mopars (should be the same)

you can keep most of your gas milage and gain lots of hp!!!!

plus alot more upgrades for those motors aswell
