Default mystery overheating

Anybody had this issue? My coolant level is fine, my fan is working, no leaks. For some reason my engine overheats within about 10 minutes of starting it. From what I understand, it can't be the thermostat because it that were broken it would be stuck OPEN and flood the system with coolant.
Anybody know what it could be?

i havent had a stat stick shut, but it could happen. an other thing that can happen is the lower hose can suck closed, but it is rare. there should be a spring in the lower hose, but it can rust out, thats when the lower hose can suck shut.

change the t-stat first, it could be stuck. if that doesnt work it could be your water pump.
