Default P0303 MISFIRE HELP PLEASE

my 97 dakota has a misfire code p0303, i'm getting spark to the ends of each wire including #3 to the spark plugs. i've changed the 1-3 plugs still p0303 BUT THE #3 ITEMS WORK ON #1, i disconnect and change 1-3 injector still misfire at number three. all other cylinders when removing the wires from the plugs and/or injectors there's a change in the idle but #3 there is no change in idle even when plugs and/or injectors swapped. when i remove the injector wire the cel comes so the injector connector is working although my dakota did go into limp mode one time due to a tranny connector coming loose.some help please

Default RE: P0303 MISFIRE HELP PLEASE

A code P0303 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

Faulty spark plug or wire
Faulty coil (pack)
Faulty02
Faulty fuel injector
Burnedexhuast valve
Faulty catalytic converter(s)
Running out of fuel
Poor compression
Defective computer [/ul]

If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.
If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check allwires. Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the truck, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils .In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty injectors. Most of the time it will take a tune up or a coil to repair. Good Luck!!
