Default V6 Muffler

alright i have a 98 dak with the 3.9L in it and im lookin for the best sounding exhaust set up for it. i tryed a cherry bomb glass pack since it was cheap. yeah...... that didnt work out the best. now i have a truck that sounds like a little 4 banger. and im not a big fan of those. so any suggestions would be good on how i can make that sound a little meaner, and sound more like a V8. without having to swap the engine out of it for the real thing.

My 03 Quad Cab 3.9L v6 has Flowmaster 50 Series SUV performance, and sounds like a smaller v8. I get countless compliments. However, it isn't designed to be quite as loud as the 40 series, its close exterior wise, but much quieter interior wise (which I love).

alright thanks guys. does it sound like a v8 all the way through the RPM range or is it just sound that way low R's? because thats how the glasspack was. it sounded good at idle, but anything above about 1500 RPM sounded like a little tuner car.

that is pretty much what you get with the v6 engines, i have not heard of any mufflers that resolve this reaccuring issue, there are some that are a bit better but still got the tuner sound, unless you put a turbo or supercharger to get the whine noise. good luck.

yeah at 17 i dont have much money for a pair of turbos or a supercharger, plus money to beef up the engine with the supercharge so i was able to pull as much power out of it as possible. but thanks for the suggestion

My 50 Series SUV Performance has reasonable volume until 5th gear, but 5th is inevitiable to get very loud. However, adding air intake to your truck combined with the exhaust will allow for a beefier sound. Or by adding headers... both will improve air flow, gas mileage, and ruggedness to the sound of the truck.
