Need opinions on tires!!
Ok so due to my own lavyness and a change in my trucks usage I need tires. Now I am painting my stock rims (bimmer came and I got side tracked, but Im almost done then Ill post pics) which are 15x8. My truck came with and still has 31x10.5 on it. Now Im seriously thinking of puttin 235/70 on them for 2 reasons. Better mpg, I used to avoid the highway with my mud tires but my parents built a house and I dont have a choice but 30+miles of 60mph+. AND theyre sooo much cheaper than my stock size.
My question is this, do you think I will notice a difference in performance (less weight to spin and what not) or mpg? Will they look retarded? They are really only an inch narrower and 2 inches shorter than what I have now. And the most important will they fit my 8 inch rims and be safe?

the sizing translates to 28x9.25
you will get better mileage,
they may or may not look retarded depends on your tastes
they'll do fine on your 8 inch rims,
seriously

I was actually trying to fit the same size on my 97 dak 4x4. it came with the 31/10.5/15 tires and I wanted to put on some 235/75/r15's because they were snow tires. I looked up the wheel size and it said they were 15X8 so I bought the tires which can fit on a maximum rim width of 8 inches. But when they took off the other tires they told me the wheels were actually 9 inches from bead to bead. In short if I am correct your tires will not fit. If the wheel is as wide as the section width of your tires everything should work out.
i personally think that it would look really bad especially since your used to the mt look. i think a good set of 30x9.50 street tires would get you the best gas mileage with the two rear end gear sets in these trucks. it may take more to get bigger tires rolling but once there moving they dont have to go around as many times as smaller ones. just my opinion i had a cherokee with 235/75/r15's M/T's on it and it looked sweet my dad since got street tires on it since my sister has it now and it looks retarded in my opinion. i'd look for a set of 30x9.50 street or all terrains and find some reviews and see what ppl say about mileage. I have hercules terra tracs on mine 31x10.50 and get 19-21 on the highway unless its on winter gas.
