Default 04 sakota slt

hi all,
i have a 04 dakota with only 25,000 miles on it and about 2-3 weeks ago the steering became intermittently stiff? I have had 2 shops look at it both with different opinons. One shop thought it was a gear with in the steering box, and the other thinks it needs a new "rack" i read on line it could also be the steering pump, and suggestions or thoughts?
thanks

If you search the forums there is a fix for this. But you have rack and pinion not a steering box...

Default dakota stiff steering

hi again,
i posted about my 2004 dakota having a steering issue. I looked around this site and found some great help and photos about what the issue may be with my truck. Now I cannot find where I found those postings? Could anyone help guide me back to where that is, there were posting about stiff steering and photos of the "intermediate rack or rod"
thanks for any help!!

check that out. I had a new rack put in on my 06 dakota because of a similar issue, but it looks like this can be possible too on a second gen.
