Default crank sensor?

Just a thought but is there a way to lets say water proof the crank sensor? I already shorted out one, and I think the other one isn't counting properly.... So I need to fork out and buy one now GRRR.

makes me wonder if there is something wrong in the seal. my buddy has a 5.9 JGC and we off road the **** out of it. we have been windshield deep in a river a few times (thank you snorkel!!) and the CPS has been ok.... until now. i think it went out last week, but even so it has been happy the last 150something thousand miles. is there a gasket in there to keep out moisture or something?? you might want to check something like that...

on my 4.7 it went out and when i tried to pull it out found out that it was rusted in the hole. i had to break it off and drilll a screw into it and pull it off with a slide hammer, it was a pain in my ***.
