Hey fellas! I have a 99 3.9 2wd dakota and it starts when it wants to start! I had the battery tested and that checked out fine. I replaced the terminal wires and that did not fix the problem. When I get in it sometimes it fires right up and others it just goes "click, click, click", THEN it may start! Is this more than likely my starter? If so, check out this thing I found on ebay!

Thanks for the input!!

Sounds like a loose connection. The starter will make that noise but only because it doesn't have enough power...

most likely the starter has a flat spot, it happens. go to napa and get one for around $170? bring back the core, which is good for around $50. thats what i did when my starter would throw the armature back and forth without turning.

OK, I haven't had time to check the connections yet....what I really want to know is what do you guys think of this 'starter rebuild' kit?? Is it legit? For the price it might be an ok try....? Thoughts??

we get that in a couple of the starters at work, if you rebuild it will just wear out and start over, get the starter tested. that will tell you if thats your problem.
its the problem in our stuff
