Silver_Dodge did a similar mod on his '99 1500 QC; I found the thread when I had my 1500 QC but never put serious thought into the mod:

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen-ram-tech/81050-k-and-n-fipk-no-more.html

The pictures aren't in the thread evidently; however, in his sig, Silver_Dodge has a link to his CarDomain page and one of the first photographs is a picture of the engine bay.

Type "ProComp Air Cleaner" or "Mopar Air Cleaner" in google and a few sites should pop up where you can buy it..

im using a 4" K&N Air filter, the ones that come with it are a 2" it fits snug, a 2in would fit better but i like the big-o-4incher better.

get a shaker hood instead of that, you will draw in only warm air doing that... but than again a shaker hood is about a grand unpainted :S would be cool though.

Fun Challenger Shaker Hood Scoop fact!

Either a Shaker hood or a Challenger T/A-style hood:

I think for the T/A-style hood you could cut a stock hood for the intake and install the scoop above a round air cleaner with a K&N X-Stream air cleaner lid.

A Challenger R/T-style hood would also work:

The last one would take extensive rework of the hood as far as I can tell though :S

yeah im good at welding but this....... just no. the amount of hell and body work i would go through would just be astronomical. <(i use big words once in a while, see)

while the final look would be amazing and telling people i fabbed it m self would be BAD A$$ i would rather just pay the 900 for the shaker hood. honestly i' looking at 3" cowl hoods right now, i like those a lot.

Not really, any hotter then the air you would get from a CAI.. unless it was outside the engine bay.

Yes a Shaker would work better. Im not going to argue that.

I took off the Rear Weather stripping to have a better air flow through the engine bay, works kinda like a heat extractor.

Also Installing Ceramic Coated Headers will reduce your bay temp drastically.. considering most of the heat is produced from the exhaust,

i say about 1 more month and ill have new pics to post up of the sexy new system.. God i cant wait! Ceramic Coated PPhs with single 3in side exit cat free with single chamber muffler.. im.. drooling!
