Default Check Engine P0420 Questions

Hi all,
I have a 99 Dakota V6 for the about a month and a half maybe a little under two months my check engine light has been on. I thought Tune Up and Oil Change I have been a little late getting to this. So this Wednesday I did the tune up and Oil change, my light stayed on so I thought it just didn't reset. I went to Auto Zone so they could do the free code check so they could reset it. To my surprise it had nothing to due with the tune up, This is what I got:

Code P0420

Catalyst efficiency low-bank 1

the oxygen sensors monitor the catalytic converters ability to store oxygen

Probable Causes

1.Catalytic converter defective (failure possibly due to #2,3, or 4)
2.Engine Misfire or running condition
3.Large vacuum leak
4.Engine oil leakage into exhaust-valve guide seals piston rings

My questions is how hard would it be for me to check these myself and if anyone had this code what ended up being there problem?
