Hello all! I was wondering if i could get some ideas on what you all have done to your trucks to give it your own personality. i would like some ideas so that i know kinda what is out there. If you all would not mind when you post if you could give some insite to where you purchased the items you have or give a brief description of what you did. I am looking everywhere interior and exterior, engine mods, and body mods. Thanks everyone you all are the best. somewhere around the 1998 year and some of the club cab. I have a v6 engine but i would like to see what some of you v8 guys do to.

roll pan, tonneau cover (used to have one, broke), clear headlights, CAI is always a good idea (just d.i.y. or autozone, not the $200+ ones), removed all badges, little cheap things add up over time for a nice clean look.

just casually mention a 5.9 swap! too funny.
I wanted a daily driver w/ good MPG that looked good and unique.($6500) removed dealer plates logos and the "dakota sport" decals from doors.
Started with 18" chrome wheels and tires(see sig faulken ziex tread looks awesome) & tonneau cover.($2,000 local pickup shop) lost performance due to the extra weight so i bought a superchips tuner to smooth things out($250eBay). I purchased a CAI also from eBay $45. Shielded the CAI with high temp thermal wrap ($20 hardware store) welded a stainless steel 2 3/4" pipe tip.($30)
black diamond headlights and smoke tailies ($200 eBay) bolted on a v8 throttle body($140) and 180 thermastat. last not least a roll pan for $220(local garage) MPG: 17.5 city 22 highway
quarter mile results coming soon. (16.5?)

Holy S*** anybody want a 1998 Dodge Dak w/ 100K for $9400???LOL

I forgot the stereo. Look for the under the bench seat bolt on thing. you pull the old one out and pop the new one in. it even holds the jack and crow bar. mine holds 2 10" subs totally out of sight. im only pushing a 150rms amp & it sounds great with any aftermarket head unit.
don't get the 8" sub "drop in" you'll wish you had 10's right away!!

Things I have done to my truck. It's a 2001 Club Cab, Bright Silver with 3.9 and NV3500 5-speed, 93,000 miles on it:

Michelin LTX M/S 235/75R15, Best tires I ever bought.

Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks, work pretty good for the price

V8 TB

180 degree thermostat

Removed elbow and cut out front of air box for better air flow with Wix-made Napa Proselect paper air filter

Basic "better" ignition with 3923's, Napa Brass cap and rotor button, Belden Premium plug wires, I change them all out about every 20K

Oil changed every 2800 miles, no matter what. Valvoline Maxlife 10w30 and Wix-made Napa Proselect oil filter

20% tint. I live in Florida..

Dana/Rostra aftermarket cruise control, works great, not a single problem since I installed it

Mild audio system with Alpine CDA-9847 head unit, Alpine Ipod interface, 80 gig Ipod hidden in the glove box, Clarion S744 processor hidden in the glove box, Alpine Type R 6 1/2" splits in front, Alpine Type S 6 1/2" coaxials in rear, JL Audio 10W0 sub in sealed enclosure, Kicker KX350.4 in 2 channel stereo for front speakers, JL Audio 300/4 for the rear and sub, amps stacked and flush mounted behind driver's seat. It all sounds pretty good for what it is.

All Stinger wiring and interconnects

Bel 955 Radar detector with wired remote mute control, saved me $ more than a few times

Viper 350HV alarm with door lock actuators and dome lamp supervision, works great

Pilot 138-C fog lamps in the factory locations. Not exactly the easiest thing I ever installed but they turned out fine and help a lot on back roads at night.

Basic black mud guards

That's about it. Oh, and a Walmart dual cup holder that I super ultra custom mounted on the floor between the gear shift console and the seat and a straight-pimpin' genuine leather steering wheel cover from Pep Boys...

These things I have done to my truck make it mine. If it blew up on my way to work tomorrow, I'd still have to say I really like my truck a lot. It's been a real good truck since I got it almost 3 years ago.

Stock thermostat for a 3.9 is 195 degrees. What the 180 does is trick the PCM into thinking the engine is not completely warmed up to normal operating temperature so the PCM will richen the air/fuel mix a little. It can add a some power gain in HP but the reason I did it was to eliminate preignition ping. Many others did it for the same reason. I have had no detrimental effects from it but some have said their MPG went down after adding the 180 tstat. A few others said it fouled their O2 sensors. My own MPG has actually improved with the 180 tstat and V8 throttle body. But I have a manual and don't drive it very hard, maybe that has someting to do with it. It's a good mod if you ask me. Even the Dodge engineers have published findings that the 3.9 actually makes more power and runs more efficiently at 180 to 182 degrees. They had to design it for 195 degrees to meet the Federal emissions regulations in place at the time. I know the preignition I had before is completely gone with the 180 degree thermostat. If you do it to yours, get the "Super Stat" brand from Napa. The cheaper ones from other parts places don't open at the right temperature and have other issues. Super Stat works great.
