Default Looking at buying a 99 dakota sport

hi everyone I'm a 17 yr old high school student looking for my first truck

I've joined this forum because i saw a 1999 Dakota sport in my local classified that caught my eye for only $4000 neg. it has the 3.9L v6 with just over 201,000km on it (yes im canadian so thats about 124 900 miles...eh...). I has had about $2000 in modifications to it including:
-3 month old BFGoodrich all terain tires
-2 week old dual Magnaflow cat back performance exhaust
-Pioneer deck
-window tinting (20% front, 7% back)
-neon blue under glow lighting
-Lund roll pan
-bed liner
-Grill inserts

The guy bought it as a project vehicle for a quick turn around sale so he has only owned it for 8 months. I'm just wondering what you guys think of this and also i'd like some info on these trucks, none of my friends have owned dakotas though many have rams (most 1500). So if any one can give me some tips on what to look for when i go to see and drive the truck, also what kind of mileage can i expect? my current car (2002 olds alero) only gets 18 mpg with a 3.4L v6 so i'm not expecting much.

Thanks,

Dave

lmao what do you have against under glow? its not something im particularly looking for and i will probably re-sell the lights when im done, or see if i can get a cheaper price if he takes them off (they're illegal where i live so i would have to be careful with them...to much trouble). Btw the truck is the same colour of blue as yours lol

oh i just got an email from the guy, and it needs 3 things to be road worthy (in ontario all purchased vehicles have to pass an emissions test and a safety certification) it needs a new down pipe to pass the emissions and a parking brake cable and the rear license plate light for the safety. any idea how much these things would cost? i can't seem to find how much down pipes are anywhere.

tell him you'll buy it after it passes the E-test and safety. the E-test is the major one.

my 99 dak had 225,000kms on it when I sold it and it still ran really good. nobody could tell that it had that much kms. and the 3.9's go forever. the motor in the 88 went forever, it just didnt wanna blow up.

My dad has a 1993 Dak with the 3.9 in it. He currently has 230,000 miles that's close to 400,000 km on his original motor. The only major work was a new timing chain at 180,000 which eliminated the pinging. These trucks are made to last!

the name of the color is intense blue.

as for the lighting i just hate the the whole ricer/ fast and the furious (a.k.a. SLOW AND THE CURIOUS) thing.
