Find some PPHs or Spintech Headers. Dont go with shorties, as far as i know, the design on all shorties will not allow you to correctly adjust the camber/caster on the passenger side control arm. (like mine did) now since i have the PPHs the control are is easily accessible, also with the shorties, if you ever hit a large pothole or bump the control arm bolts can punch holes in the headers...

as far as pulling the engine.. hell no its not a import with a bunch of crap you dont need in the way.

I took off my old headers and had my new ones on in less then 30 min... the only thing that was a bitch was getting the bolts off the collectors to get the headers out... you need like 2 swivels and about 1 foot or 2 foot extension LOL!

but i managed to come from the top with a 17mm to go over the lock nut while i wrenched the bottom.. major pain in the ***, but after that it was all easy...

You will be able to pull the headers through the engine bay to the top. The passenger side will come right out, the driver side you will have to move or disconnect the throttle cable from the Linkage of the TB and move the heater hose to get it out.. its no big deal.

need some clarificattion. If Shortie headers are the best purchase for our trucks, are there other brands that are made for our trucks besides the brands mentioned above. I know that the three of you have the 5.9 V8 what would you recomend for the V6? Are there any long headers made for the V6? Thanks

Mid or longtube would be better on the v8 5.9 or 5.2 engines, the 3.9 v6 you have i would suggest getting shorties, so you wont loose your bottom end torque.

There should be quit a few brands that make the v6 headers for the 3.9, honestly i haven't really looked, but stay with shorties on your v6, the v8s would need the mid or longtube headers not yours.

and if you do get headers, try to find one that doesn't wrap around itself so you can get to the control arm... lol.

Okay that makes sense. so why would i loose torque if i installed long headers on. I was told the longer and smaller diamerter would give you more torque. thanks for the clarification.

i think you're right, longtube headers are for torque... shorties are for horsepower higher in the RPM range. That's the reason real drag racers always get longtube headers... for the torque. But you are also right, there are no longtube headers for the v6 and honestly... you probably wont notice any gains, you should notice a different sound though.
