realistic mpg's v-6 vs. v-8
wow dude keep your foot out of it you should be diong better than a full size ram i mean we all agree that driving for efficiency is no fun but its necessary for most of us so that we dont go broke paying for gas
LIE, or you need a major tune up, or you are just a lead foot! I have the same thing, and I have gotten 15-16 city and about 21-22 highway. All 4.7's get about the same. If you get less or way less like you say you do; then you have a bad problem.
Uhm. No.
I have a 1999 Dakota 5.9 R/T, and after running strictly Shell 87 octane gas, I've seen mileage improve from 13.4 mpg to 15.2 mpg.
I ran Seafoam through the tank after my 4th or 5th tank of gas and the mileage has remained consistent.
That's driven daily, averaging speeds between 25 mph and 45 mph, stop and go traffic, with the occasional case of lead in the right boot.

I have a 99 38, 5spd, 4x4 extended cab, and get 13 - 16 on the highway. I have gotten as low as 11 on the highway doing 85 into a head wind.
My 95, was the same except for the rear end, anf I got around 20 on the highway when being nice, and 17 when pushing it.
If you don't need it, don't get the towing package.

I HAVE A 01 QUAD WITH THE 4.7 motor-- it has just under 35K on the vehicle & the mpg is less than 14 in town--- What, if anything can be done----. Where to start-- I bought this from an estate-- & know the truck was only driven to/from work. I've cleaned it up/ new tires /oil change & drive it-- was hoping it would get a little better mileage. No I do not put my foot in it, i live in the flat lands of Kansas so terrain is not a problem-- I've ran seafoam through the fuel system & it seems to idle much better. Any thoughts On getting 16 mpg on a consistent basis-- Thanks
