Rear brake question

Default Rear brake question

when replacing rear shoes, does the shoe with the longer pad material go towards the front or the rear? -thanx

no the smaler shoes is the pri shoe it go's in the ft the longer shoe is secondary and go's to the rear

Are these a pain in the *** to do? Is there a special tool do make it easier?

yeah theres a brake installation tool out there. go to napa, sears, wherever, they'll have one. it's only a pain if you let it become one. take one side apart at a time, and use the other side as a reference when installing the new parts. dont tear down both sides otherwise your gonna have a hell of a time. i remember doing mine and that stupid little half moon shaped cable guide for the parking brake wouldnt stay on the shoe, i disassembled and reassembled the left side about 50 times, little f**ker wouldnt stay. needless to say, i can disassemble and reassemble an entire rear brake assembly in 2 mins, with taking the tire off.

lol, well I dont have terribly good luck with drums. I need to replace my e-brake cables aswell and they look like a HUGH pain :P
