My truck has 119,000 on it and if I rush the shift I get a bit of a "catch" going into 3rd, not a grind, but I suspect with what I am reading this is common in these transmissions. It may get worse as the miles pile up but I don't beat on it and I suspect it will last a good long time yet.

Yeah, I think the Dakota might be mad, but my garage is so small, I can barely fit my bikes in there! Had the truck in there once, almost had to crawl out the windows just to get out As far as the transmission goes, since it's only third that's giving me grief and everything else is working, I'm just gonna leave it for now and keep an eye on it so it doesn't get worse. I use my bike 95% of the time anyway, so no real need to spend a ton of money fixing it as long as the other gears and everything else keeps working.
