Default 02 sensor question

I am running my exhaust setup with no cat, and im wondering if my CEL will come on because of the o2 sensor. If so, will it effect the performance of the engine and what are the easiest ways to stop the 02 sensor from throwing a code? all help appreciated,

ethan

Hmm, you have a 99 5.2.

If you go with no Cat your 1/2 (rear o2 sensor) will throw a code, since the exhaust gases are not being filterd by a cat the 2nd o2 sensor will tell the PCM your cat is not there or not working there for causing a CEL to turn on.

I suggest zip tie the rear o2 to the frame rail and see how that works, i have a Spintech exhaust system, and im running high flow cat which sometimes can give CELs, i zip tied by rear o2 to the frame rail and no CEL so far.

if that doesn't work, your only other bet is a Sim from "The fastman" although they have been known to cause more problems sometimes then fix.

Try the zip tie method first.

The zip tie works wonders, ya know? I did the same thing with mine. I get a MIL maybe once every 6 or 8 months but for free, I can deal with that.
