Hey guys, so what Generation does my truck fall into??

I have a 3.7L V6 -that is 3rd Gen

The body style however is 2nd gen....

This is very very weird, when looking for aftermarket parts, do I buy stuff for the 2005 Dakota?

Does the 2005-2008 look the same under the hood as my 2004?

2004 is considered an gen 2, but mostly they only changed the body style for 05 and up. some aftermarket 05 and up parts will fit your motor. not to sure about the pcm. i think they are different.

So if I buy aftermarket parts, I should get them for 05 and up Dakota's?? It seems that way, just not sure if the engine bay is laid out exactly the same....

PCM is the power control module.

Just curious why you think the 3.7L is a 3rd gen, in 2004 the 3.7L was available to the Dakotas and is continued to be used presently. 2003 was the last yr of the 3.9L. As far as the layout, I am sure its similiar, most likely not exact. Hope that helps

 

Did you mean, why I think it's 2nd gen?? the reason I think that is because, in the forums its posted as 2nd gen up to 2004.

The body is 2nd gen, but it seems that the guts are third gen..?? Im lost!!

Basically it seems that K&N and airraid forgot to make a CAI for 04 3.7's. Can I buy a CAI for an 05-07 and be ok??

Will it fit??
