Default Painting Stock rims

I want to paint my stock rims black. I dont have the money for new wheels and would like to make it look a little different than every other dakota. Plus i love the look of black rims.

Anyway, has anyone done this? I'm not really sure about how to go about this. I assume to do it right i would have to take the tires of the rim and paint it that way, but I don't really have anything to take a tire of a rim. What should I do?

The most important part tho... What paint? how many coats? What clear? I dont want it to look like crap or flake off in a month.

Thanks guys!

this is where having friends helps lol if you take your time in taping them off you can do it with the tire on the wheel. it won't look the best but a good rattle can blank paint would work, i'd say 2-3 coats. then there is only one good clear in a rattle can my friend said i'm not sure what it was called but it was $20 a can when we did my taillights. with clear coat in a rattle can the more expensive the clear the better it will be
