Default Front bumper on "04"

Some of the little darlings in our neighborhood decided to egg and spray shaving cream all over everyone's cars on Halloween. The front of my 04 Dakota got nailed. I originally thought the black top of my front bumper was seperate, but now have found out it is all one piece. I was able to get everything off of the painted areas, but the unpainted black top of the bumper was stained. Does anyone have any suggestions, or know if there is a black top part of the bumper that can be slipped over the damaged area and still look good. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Man, sorry to see that. Damn kids... :-)

They've got this stuff, its basically like a black dye, in a bottle, that you can rub into your bumpers and it brings them back to black. Its not the Mother's "back to black", this stuff is serious.

Im not exactly sure if it will cover it up or not, but its worth a shot before you buy a new bumper or anything like that.

I cant think of the name off hand, but if you go to like autogeek.com, I'm sure they have it...

Hope that helps.

I believe you are talking about Black Wow. While that stuff does perform miracles, it is only for plastic pieces, not the metal on the bumper.

What you can do is try something like Meguiars Paint Cleaner. You can get it at just about any auto parts place (Advance, Auto Zone). It should do a fairly decent job at taking care of the stains.

If that doesnt work, you can find your local auto detailer (NOT a car wash or wash and wax guy, but a true auto detailer) and he/she will be able to remove the stain fairly easily. But you need to take care of it quickly because the longer the stain is left on the bumper the harder it will be to remove and possibly leave permanent damage.

A clay bar won't hurt anything, but I'd still recommend using a paint conditioner or something to that effect as well. That will help with any stains or fading that the egg may have done to the bumper.

No, it is not metal. The entire bumper cover is plastic. The top part is left raw, and the bottom painted to match the truck. I tried the clay aproach, but it did not work. It almost looks like the stain is in the plastic. Must have been the combination of egg and shaving cream. They filled inside the grille with foam. I'm going to stop by a detail shop tommorrow on the way home from work. Three houses in the area were not affected, and they all have kids that are always together. The police are hoping to get one of the kids to confess. Then I'll just let their parents pay for a body shop to fix it. Whatever it takes.

That stuff I was talking about earlier should do it for you man. I'd go that route first. If that doesnt work, then yea, make their damn parents pay for it!

Man that would make me mad!

Oh I'm sorry. I didn't realize front bumpers had plastic on them. If thats the case, then Black Wow is the stuff for you.

It is very expensive, around $30 a bottle. But all you will need is literally a drop, if that. The stuff should last about 10 years if you regularly use it too.
